Forty Nine
Day forty nine....
Today I got notice of redundancy, after seven years of (somewhat) loyal service, I am the proud receiver of the royal twos up from my esteemed employer.
So, how do I feel? Angst at being thrown onto the scrapheap at the perilous age of 41? Distress about the dark days ahead? Woe about being cast aside in the darkest days of economic doom? Or just joy....
Yeeeeesss.
I can smile.
I can laugh.
I feel like dancing a la Fred Astaire (or maybe that should be Ginger), like sweeping strangers to teeter down the street in a slightly crazy walz.
I remember what it is to be alive.
So corporate Americana, so long, farewell, auf wiedersein, good night, ta ta ta ta ta ta taaaaa.
So this is my countdown to life, to laughs, to love; forty nine steps away from the darkness and into light....
This will be a (somewhat) cynical account of my exit from one of America's finest, the reality of life and death in a Corp, the fraudulent dealings, the harems, the threats, the nice boy favorites, the deals and the rewards.
Thank you Corp for my life back.....
